Three hot Oktoberfest looks with denim

Denim is the big thing this year in Bavarian fashion, and if you haven’t heard that yet, then you can read about it here, here, and here. We’ve explained it enough: now it’s time for us to show you the three hot Oktoberfest looks with denim in 2014. Jeans are comfy, every-day wear that is simply getting a new twist here, so there’s really no excuse not to get involved in this trend.

1. Denim Dirndls

If you want to rock this new Oktoberfest look, but are still attached to the classics, then why not go for a “jeans dirndl”. The great thing about them is that you’ve got that typically feminine Oktoberfest silhouette with a fun, modern twist. To wear the look, though, remember that – even with denim fabric – this is still a dress: i.e. on a scale of boyfriend jeans through to shiny, dark-blue skinnies, this is closer to the skinnies. You’ve got to go for high-end make-up accordingly, as well as artfully arranged hair, demure make-up, and proper shoes – not boots! This all Bavarian piety meets all-American good-time girl.

2. Denim bodice

The denim bodice look is still definitively American – in fact, it’s as close to Country & Western as you can get in Oktoberfest fashion. That means pairing up these bodices with heavy skirts or – as in this shot – leather shorts. The difference to the denim dirndl look is crystal clear in this pic: with the bodice, you’re on the rougher, more rock ‘n’ roll end of things, so accompany it with boots and tie your hair back or up to keep the look classy. Remember: this is trailer-park chic, not trailer-park trash…

3. Denim shorts

Denim shorts with a Bavarian twist are also kind of trailer park: after all, you’re showing a lot of flesh with this kind of cut, so the look requires a slightly longer top – a blouse with puffed arms, for example, rather than a vest. Regardless: you’ll need not only a great figure and some classy accessories, but a lot of chutzpah to carry off this look! To really rock this Oktoberfest look, go for sweet little shoes – ballerinas, for example – and playful details like hair ribbons or buns. Otherwise, you’re in danger of going cheap, not fun – more Courtney Love than Carly Rae Jepsen… But if you get this right, you’ll be the toast of the table.
