Oktoberfest after parties

Oktoberfest after parties

Now, perhaps you haven’t really planned your Oktoberfest visit much beyond getting into a tent and leaving it rather drunk when it kicks you out. If, however, you are still in a fit state to party by the time most tents are sweeping the last drinkers out at around 11:00pm, then you’ll want to know where to go.

If you’re not sure whether you’re experiencing a genuine second wind or if it’s just a last gust before the motor clomps outs, a good idea is to go to the Weinzelt – wine tent – which stays open until way after midnight. And if you manage that, then you could think about going a couple of clicks across town for some more drinks.

Or stop off just behind the Bavaria statue at the alte Kongresshalle. The name says it all: “Wiesnclub” – i.e. the club for the Wiesn (as the Oktoberfest is known around here). Given the proximity, it’s pretty packed, of course, but convenient: which is maybe why it costs €10 to get in.

If you keep heading west from the Wiesn, you’ll land up at the Nachtgalerie on Landesberger Straße. Those who make this journey are rewarded with low prices, but will need ID and a convincingly not-too-drunk face to get past security.

Going into town, the familiar brand name Löwenbräu will crop again at the Löwenbräu-Keller on Stiglmayerplatz. You can keep partying into the small hours here (when Germans say open end, they mean it!), and in fact, you can even make a full evening out of it from Thursdays to Saturdays, when the joint opens early at 6:30pm.

If you’re really up for a journey, then  try Kultwerk, a post-industrial plot of land to the east of the city centre with around 20 clubs. There’s something for everyone here, and you’re guaranteed to stay hyped through the night and find some of the best Oktoberfest after parties.
