Oktoberfest scarves: warm at the Wiesn

After taking a look at how to keep out the cold at the beginning of the week with Bavarian knitwear, we thought we’d show you another piece of Oktoberfest fashion that really shouldn’t be missing from any girl’s dirndl handbag: an Oktoberfest scarf.

stockerpoint-trachtenschal-sh150-gruen-a-1What makes Oktoberfest scarves different from normal ones, you may ask. Firstly, we’re not talking about woolly winter scarves, but about light cotton fabrics – more of a summer shawl or neckerchief than anything else. Secondly, these scarves are patterned to look good with Oktoberfest dirndls and lederhosen. And thirdly: they’ve got lots of fun design features that make them just the perfect accessory for Munich’s biggest and best festival.

stockerpoint-trachtenschal-sh150-tuerkis-a-1Let’s take a peek at one, for example, from – not surprisingly – our favourite Bavarian fashion house, Stockerpoint: it’s 100% pure cotton for that lovely, non-itchy neck feeling, and its background of beige hearts is outlined with a border in check pattern – in apple green, turquoise, or red. The printed text says “Alpenkönigin” – or “Alpine Queen”, and then there’s the lovely line around the four corners, which basically says “This scarf is full of love”.

Well, we’re full of love for this scarf – and, since it’s so eye-catching, so will the fellas. For once, they won’t just be staring down our chests, but up them, too…
