Our Oktoberfest 2013

Our Oktoberfest 2013

Well, after floods of tears mourning the passing of the Oktoberfest 2013, we’ve finally got round to sorting through our photos from the world’s biggest beer festival and thought we’d share our favourites with you!

Let’s start with the best beer gardens since, especially in the first week, the weather was exceptional. Nice and warm all day, and since there was no rain either, all we needed was a stylish piece of Alpine knitwear to keep the draft off in the evenings.

Schottenhamel

We loved the classic Biergarten at Schützenfestzelt (partially roofed in case of the rain that never came), as well as the traditional Herzkaspel tent’s beer garden on the retro Oide Wiesn. Another classic of the genre, as far as we’re concerned, is Schottenhamel.

If you’re anything like us, you’ll be just as interested in the food and beer at the Oktoberfest 2013, so here are some photos of our favourites!

Chicken

In terms of the beer, we’re very partial to the products of the Hofbräuhaus, although we spent a lot of time debating whether this is simply because it’s the one that we can get abroad and kn0w so well. Whatever the case, though, Spaten can’t claim any particular familiarity and is absolutely delicious. As for the food: it just has to be chicken, no doubt at about it. Roast chicken.

And finally, we wouldn’t do justice to the name of this blog if we didn’t show you our favourite dirndls and lederhosen from the Oktoberfest 2013, so here goes.

Way to work the ‘hosen with the sunglasses!

Classy with the gilet…

…sassy with the aprons!

What we loved most about the gilet? It’s the Calzado gilet in royal blue from the good folks at our favourite Bavarian designers, Stockerpoint. Ditto that lovely red dirndl on the left, which goes by the name of Pippa. Thank heavens that we were sporting a mixture of other pieces from the range, second-hand bits and bobs, and a few other items – could have been pretty embarrassing otherwise!
