Preparing early for the Oktoberfest 2014

Preparing early for the Oktoberfest 2014

Well, what do you know? There are only another 335 days left until the next Oktoberfest in Munich! Are you thinking what we’re thinking? Of course: it’s time to start preparing for next year’s festivities.

Calves and hips

We all know how important calf muscles are for showing off our legs, right guys? And to make sure they don’t look as lame as so many others, we’ve got to start training early. After all, muscles are built up over months, not weeks – and the same principle applies to us girls, too. A dirndl-friendly, curvy, hourglass figure is the kind of thing to start thinking about early.

Reservations

If you’re patting yourself on the back for thinking about Oktoberfest reservations in summer, stop patting – unless you’re looking to book for the year afterwards! That’s because reservations for the Oktoberfest 2014 in the big tents can be made from November 2013 onwards, and by “can” we mean “must be made” because, if you’re looking to reserve for the evening, you can forget it after November; in the popular tents, even the lunchtime reservations towards the end of the week are often all gone, too.

Bavarian costume

Once you’ve sent off your requests for reservations, there’s not that much to think about until spring, which is when you’ll get confirmation of whether you’re reservation has been successful or not. Whether it was or not, spring is great time to start thinking about your wardrobe. Did your Haferlschuhe lederhosen shoes suffer at last year’s fest? Is that a tear in your dirndl? Do you need new dirndl blouses or lederhosen checked shirts? Whatever the case, it’s best to find out in advance so that you can order authentic Bavarian clothing online in good time, giving you plenty of opportunity to send things back if they don’t fit or aren’t right.

Travel plans

It’s June now, and if you haven’t started already, you should be looking at flights or other ways of getting to Munich. Tickets tend to go quickly, especially on popular flights, and Deutsche Bahn’s rail specials will be sold out by July at the latest.

Tan

July and August is all about putting the finishing touches to your dirndl-figure and lederhosen-legs – and to browning them up. So go on holiday! It’ll be September again before you know it…
