What do you want for Christmas?

What do you want for Christmas?

Well, if you ask us, you’ll get a clear answer: all we want for Christmas, is Tracht! That’s right – although it’s more the season for jumpers with reindeer and holly than for dirndls and lederhosen with deer and floral motifs, we just never stop thinking about Bavarian fashion.

Having said that, it must be pretty obvious that dirndls and lederhosen make absolutely unbeatable Christmas presents. First off, because this stuff is just made for winter: Bavarians have Alps and so are particularly adept at making things like boots and warm jackets. Second, because Bavarian gear – especially Oktoberfest lederhosen and Oktoberfest dirndls – are useful gifts for fans of the Munich festival; and if you’ve got it now, there’s no need to worry about buying it in late summer. Which leads us on to number three: Christmas is a great time to buy Bavarian clothing because no-one is thinking about and shops cut their prices right down.

Even if you know someone who’s got “all the gear”, there’s always a Bavarian fashion gift out there for them that they’re bound to love.

1. If she’s already got her dirndl, blouse, apron, shoes and bag, you could help her accessorise, for example, with necklaces featuring hearts or traditional floral motifs such as “edelweiss”. A girl can never have too much jewellery!

2. Bavarian belts suit both her as an accessory (ladies’ versions with heart-shaped pendants)  and him as a way of prolonging the useful life of a lederhosen that’s got a little too baggy from too much use…

3. If you’re looking for a Christmas present that will take people’s breath away, look no further than the C. G. Monaco Collection. This is not your everyday run of the mill Bavarian clobber, with stunning fabrics in floral leopard print and amazing colours like shining blue and flamingo pink.

You’ve enjoyed German Christmas markets – now it’s time to go a step further with German Christmas clothing!
